2011 TEXAS GUBERNATORIAL INAUGURATION

AND PARADE

JANUARY 14-18

STATE CAPITOL

AUSTIN, TEXAS

FULL GUARD REQUESTED

PARTICIPATING YOUTH

DESIGNATED LEADERS

Robert Walsh, Director

The Color Guard will again be making an application for participation in the Gubernatorial Inauguration, Swearing-in Ceremony and Parade.  We will be leaving via bus transportation on Friday, January 14, 2011 and returning IMMEDIATELY upon the conclusion of the parade, arriving back at approximately 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.

SCOUTS:  Forty (40) Scouts who will be Webelos, Scout or Venture age on January 1, 2011 are eligible to apply.  The contingent will have two Troops with each having a Scoutmaster, 5 Assistant Scoutmasters, a Quartermaster and a qualified Health Officer and 5 Patrols of 4 scouts each.  One Patrol for each Troop will consist of an SPL, ASPL, Scribe and Chaplain and these 2 Patrols, along with 4 Patrol Leaders from each Troop will constitute the contingent youth Leadership Corps (16 total scouts).  All senior Scouts are urged to apply for these positions.

LEADERS:  16 Adult Leadership openings (as described above) to travel with the contingent are available.  Interested and qualified individuals are urged to apply.  Minimum qualifications are current BSA Adult Leader Registration, current YPT (including Venture YPT), current First Aid and CPR certification.

COST:  We estimate the total cost for transportation, housing, meals, uniform supplements, and tours to be approximately $500 per participant, HOWEVER, we anticipate reducing this per person cost through donations, grants and group fund raising efforts.

UNIFORMS:  All participants, adult and youth, will wear the designated uniform at all times.  Any complete  official BSA uniform is acceptable for this purpose.  Sweats and tour T-Shirts will be provided to all participants and all will be required to have red scout jackets.  (Those participating in prior activities and having secured a jacket will not need to acquire new ones, unless a larger size is needed.)  We will assist new members needing them and those desiring new ones in acquiring them.

DEPOSIT:  A NON-REFUNDABLE $100 deposit is required with each youth and adult application.  New members (and any current members not having paid it this year) will be required to add an additional $25 for annual dues.

PRACTICE AND UPDATES:  All members will receive regular updates and practice schedules beginning in August so be certain we always have a current email address on file.  These updates will include important information about fund raising activities, tour news and schedule of events, necessary preparatory activities and more.

E-mail TDCGml@aol.com for an application.
